Werner von Siemens was a manufacturer of telegraphic instruments in the late 1800s who became a pioneer in the hearing aid industry after developing an amplified telephone receiver in 1877. His innovative discoveries became the technological foundation for several of today’s hearing aid manufacturers, including Siemens.
In 1959, the Siemens company manufactured their first BTE (behind-the-ear) hearing aid and then the first (ITE) in-the-ear hearing aid in 1966.
While continuing to produce some of the world’s most innovative hearing aid technology, Siemens merged with Sivantos in 2015, which applied the company’s technology to the design and production of Signia hearing aids along with instruments produced under their own brand name.
After the merger of Sivantos with Widex in 2019, creating the WS Audiology Group, Siemens technology and their original brand name became a part of the world’s largest hearing aid manufacturing group.

The most advanced feature of Siemens hearing aids is their Binax processing technology, which uses e2e wireless technology, an eight microphone network (four per hearing aid) designed to share and balance incoming sound between the two hearing aids in order to simulate binaural hearing.
The value of Binax technology was affirmed through independent testing by the University of Northern Colorado and the Hearing Center of the University of Oldenburg, both of which concluded that individuals using hearing aids with Binax processing technology had an advantage, even over those with normal hearing, in an environment with background noise.
Integrated with Binax are additional sound enhancing technologies like Narrow Directionality, Spatial Speech Focus, eWindScreen binaural and High Definition Sound Resolution.
Going a step further, both traditional disposable or rechargeable battery options are available to Siemens hearing aid wearers, while the capacity for easy manual adjustment and the ability to connect their hearing aids to smartphones, televisions, telephones, and other digital devices are standard features able to enhance the hearing aid user’s listening experience.
Available connectivity features along with smartphone apps allow users to take advantage of being able to receive ongoing virtual assistance from their hearing care provider or the manufacturer from any remote location with an internet connection.
